Brief description

The Cryo-Plasma-FIBSEM Arctis is a DualBeam platform primarily designed for automated cryo-ET sample preparation. The system enables direct link between Cryo-FIBSEM and Cryo-TEM instruments, featuring a dedicated Compustage, redesigned vacuum chamber with low contamination rate, robotic sample loading system (Autoloader), Plasma-FIB ion source and integrated wide-field fluorescence light microscope for correlative imaging at various wavelengths.

Key features

  • PFIB fitted gasses: Xenon (Xe), Argon (Ar), Oxygen (O)
  • NiCol Electron column
  • Autogrids-compatible Compustage Autoloader (robotic sample loading of up to 12 autogrids)
  • Wide field fluorescence light microscope (iFLM Correlative System, 450 nm, 550 nm, 635 nm and 365 nm) at triple beam coincidence point (Ions, Electrons, Photons)
  • Integrated coating functionality (Pt sputter-coater and GIS)
  • Autonomous nitrogen refilling

Technical details

Techniques/Software:

  • Lamellae preparation from plunge and/or HPF vitrified samples
  • with possibility of fluorescence signal correlation
  • User interface and WebUI software with focus on automated remote
  • lamellae preparation
