High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy

Course Overview

This 5-day High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HRTEM) course focuses on HRTEM and HRSTEM operation modes, and dedicated data analyses and simulations. The nature of aberrations of electron optics in TEM and STEM affecting the resolution as well as numerical and optical methods used to correct them are discussed. At the end of the course, students will learn how to acquire HR(S)TEM data, analyse, process and simulate them.

The course aims on improving HR(S)TEM skills for students with prior TEM experience. The course runs once per semester.

ECTS points

2 credits for full course.

Course fee

Full course for Master Students of ETH Zurich: no fee
Full course for Academia: 400 CHF
